Does the school provide the snack?

Yes, mid-session we serve a nutritious snack such as graham crackers and milk. Parents may send in treats for birthdays and holiday parties.


How many students are in each class?

Horizons has a 9 to 1 ratio in all the classes if enrollment is full.

The three year old class has two teachers and the Pre-K class also has two teachers. We are a team teaching preschool. Although one teacher will be your child's "home" teacher, your child will benefit from the background and experiences of all the teachers in the classroom.


What are the qualifications and experience of the teachers?

The Director, Joan Filips, has her Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction in Preschool Education, a Bachelors in Elementary Education, and was a kindergarten teacher. Joan has been involved with Horizons Preschool for 26 years, initially as a mom of three preschoolers, a substitute, a full time teacher, a director, and now the owner.

Represented among the teachers are 1 Master degree, 2 Bachelor degrees, and more than 45 hours of in-service training certification. One Horizons teacher has taught in elementary school and one has worked in children's services. The Horizons teaching staff has a combined total of over 60 years of classroom experience! Additionally, our teachers attend seminars and classes to keep their skills and knowledge current.


How do I register my child at Horizons Preschool?

To register your child, you will need to complete an enrollment form and sign the contract for enrollment from September to May of the current school year. Please see the enrollment page for further details.
