Does the school provide the snack?

Yes, mid-session we serve a nutritious snack such as graham crackers and milk. Parents may send in treats for birthdays and holiday parties.

How many students are in each class?

Horizons has a 9 to 1 ratio in all the classes if enrollment is full.

The three year old class has two teachers and will not exceed 18 children.

The four/five year old class has three teachers and will not exceed 27 children.

We are a team teaching preschool. Although one teacher will be your child's "home" teacher, your child will benefit from the background and experiences of all the teachers in the classroom.

What are the qualifications and experience of the teachers?

The Director, Joan Filips, has her Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction in Preschool Education, a Bachelors in Elementary Education, and was a kindergarten teacher. Joan has been involved with Horizons Preschool for 23 years, initially as a mom of three preschoolers, a substitute, a full time teacher, a director, and now the owner.

Represented among the teachers are a Masters degree, 3 Bachelor of Education degrees, 2 Associate degrees, and more than 45 hours of in-service training certification. Three Horizons teachers have taught in elementary schools. The Horizons teaching staff has a combined total of over 66 years of classroom experience! Additionally, our teachers attend seminars and classes to keep their skills and knowledge current.

How do I register my child at Horizons Preschool?

To register your child, you will need to complete an enrollment form and sign the contract for enrollment from September to May of the current school year. Please see the enrollment page for further details.
